George P. How (1829–1885) - Master of Corinthian Lodge= ==Early Life and Education== George P. How was born on January 24, 1829, in Concord, Massachusetts, to Hon. Phineas How, a prominent figure in the community. George received his education in Concord’s schools and local academy. In 1842, he began working in his father’s store, balancing his education with store duties. By 1845, he dedicated himself fully to business, developing a strong understanding of the trade. When his father fell ill in 1852, George took over full management of the store, continuing until his father’s passing in 1853. Following this, he remained a clerk under his father’s successor. In 1859, he expanded his career into mercantile pursuits in Boston. ==Masonic Journey== Brother George P. How was initiated into Corinthian Lodge on May 31, 1852, and became a full member on October 25 of the same year. His Masonic career was marked by a steady progression through various offices. He served as Junior Deacon in 1853, Senior Deacon in 1854, Junior Warden in 1855, and Senior Warden from 1856 to 1858. Recognized for his leadership and dedication, he was elected Master of Corinthian Lodge on October 18, 1858, and served as Master from 1859 to 1863 and again from 1867 to 1868. During his tenure, Brother How was known for his commitment to the Lodge’s growth and stability, guiding members through challenging years with dedication and integrity. ==Later Life and Legacy== In addition to his business pursuits in Boston, George P. How remained an active presence in Concord, balancing his professional life with his Masonic commitments. He passed away on June 7, 1885, and is buried at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. His legacy endures as a dedicated Mason and an integral member of the Concord community. ==Categories=
