==Early Life and Career== John Brown, son of Brother Roger Brown, began his career in manufacturing early on. In 1805, he erected a cotton mill in Factory Village, which has since become one of the oldest mills in the state. For nearly thirty-five years, Brown has been a central figure in Concord's manufacturing industry, operating a facility with 1,100 spindles and 20 looms, producing around 90,000 yards of cotton goods each year, valued at approximately $20,000. His mill, now commonly known as "Damon's Mill," is operated by the heirs of the late Brother Calvin C. Damon, marking its enduring legacy in the community.
